It’s time to make emotional abuse a crime - Lauren Laverne (via ninja-suffragette)
people under someone else’s control are hard to reach. they’re conditioned to find fault in themselves. on top of that, any urge they might have to seek help doesn’t translate to action because they see themselves as nuisances who aren’t worth the time of anyone who might help. this is because one of the main tools of the emotional manipulator is to make their victim feel as if they are truly lucky to have found such a great situation & that they won’t be able to find anything better, that they don’t deserve it. they cut off every source of positive input in their victim’s life so their only remaining source of emotional gratification is their abuser. this gives them bargaining power and creates an addiction to security (that the victim is now convinced they can’t find elsewhere). it’s truly the work of hateful, self-serving cowards.
